Library General Use Policy

Central Library of the Karnavati University has been established with the primary aim of supporting the teaching and research activities in the university. This policy is to ensure maximum accessibility to the library collection by balancing the needs of its users and collection limitations. The policy will periodically change to reflect the development and expansion of the library.

1. Library Hours

Day Time
Monday to Friday 7.30 AM to 9.00 PM
Saturday 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM

* Library remains closed on Sundays and Holidays (As per HR Policy)

2. Membership

Faculty members, staff, and students must enroll as members by filling out a membership form. An Institute Identity Card is mandatory for borrowing materials.

4. Overdue Charges

5. Book Lost Charges

  • If a book is lost, the user must replace the same edition and pay any applicable late fees.
  • If a volume from a multi-volume set is lost, the user must replace the entire set.

6. Reminders

The library sends reminders for overdue items, but members must return materials on time regardless of receiving reminders.

7. Renewals

Library materials can be renewed if there is no demand or reservation. Physical presence is required for renewal.

8. Reservation

Users can reserve issued books, with a maximum of two reservations per user.

9. Course Reserve (CR) Collection

This section contains recommended textbooks and is for in-library use only.

10. E-Resources Usage

  • E-resources are for academic use only.
  • Systematic downloading is strictly prohibited.
  • Unauthorized downloading may result in access restrictions for all users.
  • Library computer settings should not be altered.

11. General Rules

  • Maintain silence and discipline in the library.
  • Carry Institute ID cards for borrowing materials.
  • Personal belongings should be kept at designated places.
  • The library is not responsible for lost personal items.
  • Signing in at the entrance register is mandatory.
  • Library materials must be handled with care.
  • Mobile phones should be on silent mode.
  • Smoking, spitting, and sleeping are prohibited.
  • Reference books and periodicals cannot be borrowed.
  • Books must be returned to the library staff.
  • Users are responsible for materials issued in their name.
  • Misuse of library facilities can lead to suspension.
  • The librarian may recall any book at any time.
  • All materials must be issued properly, or disciplinary action may be taken.
  • Library clearance is required before course completion.
  • Rules may be revised at the discretion of the librarian.
